ChromatIC consists of 16 indipendent acquisition channels. Each channel is based on a Pulse Height Analyzer (PHA) with 8 energy levels. Basically the PHA is a 3 bit FLASH ADC, realized using comparators of the ES2 analog library. Each channel counts how many times the input signal is over the correspondent discriminator threshold. The result is stored updating a central 128x20 RAM. At the end of the acquisition, the data are read through a serial interface at a maximum rate of 25 Mbit/s (1.25 Mword/s).
